The Retreat

Proposal for alterations to the existing residential building along with the construction of two additional dwelling houses.

This project aims to transform the existing Retreat building, historically used by the Order of priests, into four modern flats. Additionally, two new dwellings will be constructed, including a three-bedroom house for the MSC Charity Trust Priests.

The current rooms occupied by the Order in Princethorpe College need to be vacated for educational purposes, leading to the decision to revamp The Retreat. The aging membership requires updated facilities, and the proposed changes include accessibility features for the ambulant disabled. Financial constraints have prompted the Order to explore the potential of the land, and the proposal seeks to create additional housing for sale while allowing the Order to maintain its presence in the local community. The development plan includes carefully dividing the existing building, constructing a new house, and creating a rural brick building with ample amenity space.

The project aligns with the existing architecture and aims to meet the needs of both the Order and the local community.
